I also forgot to mention that this book is my bible - it is by far the best knitting book I've ever used!

Hi, and welcome to my knitting journal.
I first decided to try a hand at knitting in the summer of 2004. I somehow managed to teach myself the basics [casting on, knit stitch, casting off] off a website, I think it was
this one. I knit some little piece of fabric that looked like a coaster... and that was pretty much it. Somehow the needles found their way up my nose a lot more than in my hands.

A few months later, with Xmas fast approaching, I decided I was going to knit Xmas presents to a bunch of people. Yeah, like that was going to happen while I was studying full time.
So... that brings us to the present, July 2005. I have a box full of half-knitted scarves, pretty yarns that I thought would make nice things and what seems like thousands of second-hand needles and various pieces of knitting equipment that my grand-maman gave me last Xmas because she was so glad that I had started to knit.
As it happens I also have a pretty uneventful school term and a new addiction to all things Harry Potter, so... I have started knitting again, this time [I hope] for good, and I am knitting myself a Gryffindor house scarf like
this one. The pattern is pretty easy, it's knit on circular needles, which are simply marvelous and easy to use.
I'll keep you posted on the scarf's development, I'm on stripe 4 of 19 right now, pictures to come soon!
:)
